The Third International Environmental Film Festival "Green Vision" St. Petersburg is completed. More than 300 films from 18 countries were submitted for the competition programme.
During the Festival, environmental film-makers and environmental experts visited St. Petersburg to discuss different approaches to reflecting environmental issues by means of the cinema.
International Jury of the Festival headed this year Sven Jansson (Sweden), the the director of the International environmental film festival Wildlife Europe and Filmmaking School with students from 7 countries. His colleagues were: Pierre Beaudouin, France, chairman of FRAPNA,, which is the most active of the environmental regional NGO's in FRANCE,( organises the Festival du Film Nature and environment de Grenoble), Bettina Kocher, Germany, festival manager from Hamburg, Audrone Alijosiute, Lithuania, the key person for contacts on Public Awareness and Environmental Education issues in ECAT-Lithuania and Alexander Kiseljov, Russia, a director at the St. Petersburg Documentary Films Studio
A jury awarded prizes for the best films in the following nominations:
Special prize For the beauty and humanism was awarded by the magazine “North West” to SINHALA TAMIL RURAL WOMEN'S NETWORK, Director Anoma Rajakaruna, Sri Lank
Besides, the Jury mentioned Russian TV programme HABITAT, director Natalia Velikodnaya as the best TV programme on environmental problems
