St. Petersburg said good-bye to the Sixth International Environmental Film Festival "Green Vision"

Film-makers from 24 countries sent their works to the competition. Films from 17 countries entered the programme.

As usual the event was co-ordinated by the Committee for Nature Use, Environmental Protection and Ecological Safety of St. Petersburg, with a kind support of the Ministry for Environmental protection of the City of Hamburg and "Vodokanal-Sankt-Peterburg".

A jury  awarded prizes for the best films in the following nominations:

  • Grand Prix - Roof on the Moonway, Latvia, by Maris Maskalans and Andis Miziss
  • The Best Film for Children - Tommy and the Wildcat, Finland, by Raimo O.Niemi and Ville Suhonen
  • The Most Original Approach to Reflecting Environmental Issues - Best in Beef, The Netherlands, by Rob Smits and Britta Hosman
  • The Courage in Making an Environmental Film - The Climate Forum, France, by Patrick Benquet
  • For the Beauty and Humanism - Elmer and the Flower Boat, Norway, by Oyving Sandberg
  • Prize of the Audience - both films from the Baltic Secrets series: Invincible Wolf and Return of the Beaver, UK, by Nick Upton
  • Best Film about the Baltic Sea Region - Between Lake and Sea, Russia, by Gennady Shabarin

The Jury decided to mention and award special diplomas

  • for comprehensive and profound presentation of the topic - The Miraculous Poison (History of DDT), Denmark, by Jakob Gottschav
  • for the optimistic vision of the future - both films by Carl-A. Fechner, Germany, The Substance for the Future - Energy from Hydrogene and Power of the Sun - Biomass as a Souce of Energy
  • for artistic merits - Forbidden Wildness: The Lost Wonder of Open-Cast Mining, Germany, by Siegfrid Bergmann and Hiderose Hasler and Black Vultur, Russia, by Anatoly Petrov
  • for the best Russian environmental TV programme - Kuronian Spit, Russia, by Michael Zitko
